Introduction: 

I have been asked to create a banner and i have chosen the band Fall Out Boy. My banner will be interactive and animated for those who view it. The band will be advertised so ill need few requirements in order to promote the band and their latest album. The banner will include the bands logo and their title for the first slide, these will be animated to slide onto the screen so it catches the viewers eyes, plus there will be a button so they can interact and see the next animation.
The band is an american punk rock band that has toured the UK but this year they are only going 2 places in the uk and rest in USA. The band would like more promotion especially on the web, i am doing a web banner to promote their tour and their lated album and more. It will promote to a varied audience for example for people who like rock, punk music or inspirational/fun lyrics. The band wants the banner to interest teens and young adults, the also want as many fans to come to their tours and enjoy their music and the best way to promote things for this generation is on the web, pretty much everyone uses the internet, also it will be promoted all over the UK and other countries.

The band Fall Out Boy are an american punk rock group made up of 4 members who are aged 31-36. they write their songs and like to make their music videos unique, they have 11 music videos (the youngblood chronicles) which are linked together like a tv episode. They have a range of fans with varied ages even young kids as one of their songs are featured the animated film 'big hero 6' which is one of the highest rated/vied films from 2015.

Target audience: The target audience will be a range from teens to adults this may be the ages of about 15-30's, but does have few younger fans too. They are aimed at both genders but mainly those who like punk rock music. The banners colours will be colours that are to do with rock like black, red, greys and few others.

Dimensions: The banner will be fairly big so can fit at top or middle or bottom of the page, it will be created using flash so in order for it to work it will have to e the right size. The size that the banner will be is 1000 by 300 pixels, the 100 pixels will be long enough to fit the animations on and the 300 pixels will be enough space for the animations too.

Layout and design: The layout and design will be for it to catch the attention of the audience. I have mentioned the colours that will be used, there will also be bold text so it stands out and the background will be different with each animation stage (gradients). Some of the text and images will be flying onto the screen and throughout the banner will be images and bold colours.

Animation: the animations for the banner will be the text and the images flying in onto the banner which will capture the attention of the viewers.

Sound: I may add a soundtrack which will be of one of their songs, if the viewers are fans of the band then the will enjoy the banner more but if not heard of them before then they will get to hear what type of songs they do, then they will possibly like the band and be interested.

Interactivity: The interactions of the banner will be that on each slide there will be a button at the bottom saying 'more' or will be an arrow shape and when it is clicked on it will then move on to the next animation/slide.

Publishing: The software that will be used to publish my banner is Adobe Flash Animation. This software is best for my banner because it is best at making animations in flash which are simple and complex. I will be using this because it is easy to use and is good for making small animations which is good for the banner. Plus the animations look professional, also when it is done it will be saved in a SWF file to which will make it smaller for space and will let the animation run smoothly.

Legal and ethical considerations:

Copyright: As making the banner there are few details which need to be explained. This it mainly to do with the legal and ethical part of making an animation. When creating something in flash, i need to copyright it first because this way there will be no problems. With copyright i will have to be careful because ill be using pictures from the internet and if i don't say it is there then it will make effects. Copyright is acceptable when you have permission to use the thing you would like to use. Copyright includes these: text, sound (audio), images, videos and logos too. If you don't ask first to use the piece you would like to use then it is classed as stealing so you must ask first.

Privacy representation: When making the banner, it must be remembered to to think about the representation of others with the design. As thinking about it you must think about the peoples race, gender, sexuality and age. If don't think abut these then it may be a problem and upset few peoples feelings or reputation so it is important that i miss these out. My banner is aimed at both genders and there will be no words or phrases which point out just one gender so there is no discrimination towards the audience of Fall Out Boy.

Confidentiality: This banner is used to advertise the band Fall Out Boy and will be advertising their latest album and merchandise so there may be customers wanting to buy these items so my banner will be linked to music websites that sell albums or merchandise and few other websites just incase if link it on the banner it might send the them to a wrong website or wont open etc. when linked to the websites it will confidential and can asses easily for the viewers.

Decency: This banner will be used on a variety of websites and mainly seen at the top of the page and sometimes at the bottom. Also the banner has no time show meaning there is no specific time the banner will show so that anyone may view it. The banner is suitable for all ages to see but aimed at teenagers and adults. The banner must not show or have audio with violence, sexual content, expressive imagery or swearing otherwise there will be trouble and complaints which makes it acceptable for any age to see including young children if they see it.

Gathering assets:

I will be using their logo so it promotes the band. i have decided to do images just about fall out boy so the viewers can see what type of style they are- punk, rock etc. There will also be a sound icon to show the viewers that this banner has sound gonna be playing.

I also have image of their albums but their latest album cover image will be shown bigger to promote it. The image above the albums is a picture of a mixture of their lyrics, i may use this to shpw what kind of song they sing and what they are about.

Also i would use a couple images of the band to show them what they look like, what their dress style is like.

These icons will be used for the sound and mute. For the background it will be one of their songs, i chose the song Irresistible, which is one of their catchy songs and has a nice beat and tune.
