My idea is to do a 3D open world fantasy game that is an adventure. There will be tasks/missions along the way but you can mainly explore the environment if you want to and find new things. The world that the game is based on wouldn't be on Earth, it will be on another world that will be my idea. I have decided that the games name will be 'Devilry Adventure', the reason being is that the game will be an adventure through the world and 'Devilry' means Wickedness, evil, mischief and other negative thing. I chose this because there will be evil forces that threaten my characters land/world and go on an adventure to collect small magical balls (there are 10) that are scattered around the different lands. Then will go and defeat the dark forces.
Similar Games:
Similar games to my idea and where some of my ideas have come from are Journey which is an open world game that you can explore the world you are in if you don't want to move on with the story yet. The main story and game-play is to go on a journey to the tall mountain in the distance. Reviewers have said it is a "moving and emotional" and that it is rated as a 7+ for age or the people to play it. This game has also won several game of the year award and is listed as one of the greatest games of all time. I like the idea of exploring the area you play in which gave me the idea for mine- also Journeys world is something that players haven't seen before (also really good graphics and scenery to make is look amazing) which is what I would like for my game idea.

Another game that is like my idea is a game called No man's sky, this game is upcoming so it is not released yet but it is linked to my idea also it doesn't have a proper age rating yet but people are guessing 12+ because you can kill animals, destroy ships and stuff like that. It is an adventure game that allows players to explore the generated deterministic open universe (this includes over 18 Quintilian planets). The player is playing as a planetary explorer in an uncharted galaxy, and your character has a spacesuit with a jet-pack, a spacecraft to take off and land on planets and also has a 'multi-tool' which helps to mine, scan, collect resources and to attack to defend yourself. I like the idea of having a jet-pack to help explore the environment so I may use that for my game idea, also the idea of different worlds is interesting but I may use for different areas instead of whole worlds.

Through further research I found another game that I have seen game play of and is linked to my ideas even-though it isn't a open world game it is a platform game, this game is called Grow Home which in the review its age is rated 6+. This is an adventure game that is a third person perspective, players control a robot named B.U.D. (Botanical Utility Droid), and are tasked with oxygenating its home world by growing and climbing a "Star Plant" (a giant beanstalk) and harvesting its seeds. The players are able to freely explore an open world, and have the ability to individually make B.U.D.'s left and right hands grab, with a button for each hand. I like the idea of the player being able to explore the open world and be able to interact with different objects, also the detailed graphics and style of the open world is a very nice view and i would like my game to have something like that too.
Age: My target audience is people aged 16+ even though the game examples start at 12 or younger.
Gender: My target audiences gender doesn't matter, any gender can play the game but maybe more males will play it as there are more male gamers.
Casual: Casual gamers might play games designed for ease of gameplay, or play more involved games in shorter sessions, or at a slower pace than hardcore gamers. The type of games that casual gamers play vary, and they are less likely own a dedicated video game console.
Core: This is a player that has a wider range of interests than a casual gamer and is more likely to openly play different types of games, but without the amount of time spent and sense of competition of a hardcore gamer.
I would like my game idea to appeal to all types of gamers (casual, core and hardcore) but i think mainly casual and core gamers will be more interested.
Preferred game genre: The top 5 preferred genres are:
Genre:
Adventure- An adventure game is a video game in which the player assumes the role of protagonist in an interactive story driven by exploration and puzzle-solving. The genre's focus on story allows it to draw heavily from other narrative-based media such as literature and film, encompassing a wide variety of literary genres. Nearly all adventure games (text and graphic) are designed for a single player, since this emphasis on story and character makes multi-player design difficult.
Original- This is when the ideas are you own- you came up with the ideas yourself and not stolen from someone else's creations.
Franchise- This is when your ideas come from or are based on from looking at other peoples work/ideas.
My ideas:
Original:
My characters in the game are my own creation/drawings and characteristics are ideas of my own. Also the items/objects that are in the game I have chosen or made up myself and the home menu screen are from my ideas based off the game- the different colour changing background and the fancy writing font. Furthermore the plot/story to the game is what I thought of myself too, I haven't known anyone else to use this story in their game or in general like a TV show, film or book etc. The name of the game is my own idea too (Devilry Adventure). My feedback interface may be inspired by other feedback interface, but has my own twist and ideas on it.
Franchised:
The genres of my game are based from other games I like or have played- all games are based from genres that aren't their own ideas. Also the weapons used in my game are from other games (but the swords have my own twist on them). Furthermore the images on my storyboard are from google images, however i adjusted them a bit to make them bit different from the original. The idea of open world is based on the three games at the top, as I like the idea of the player being able to explore the worlds different areas when they want.

- The platform
- The first person shooter
- The 2D shoot 'em up
- The role playing game
- The fighter/beat 'em up
Target platform:
Examples:
PC- Varies greatly depending on host device form factor and specialization.
Xbox one- Only select games are available. Games need to be manually made compatible with the Xbox One by Microsoft and ran in an emulator
The platforms I want for my game is PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and 4 because PC games are the most popular but because some people have slow connections or old laptops I also chose those consoles because Xbox and PlayStation are the two main popular one that people own.

Puzzle- Puzzle video games are a genre of video games that emphasize puzzle solving. The types of puzzles can test many problem solving skills including logic, pattern recognition, sequence solving, and word completion.
Action-adventure- These games is a mix of their two component genres, typically has long-term obstacles that must be overcome using a tool or item as leverage (which is collected earlier), also has as many smaller obstacles almost constantly in the way, that need elements of action games to overcome. Action-adventure games tend to focus on exploration and usually involve item gathering, simple puzzle solving, and combat.
Fantasy- This is a genre of fiction that commonly uses magic and other supernatural phenomena as a primary plot element, theme, or setting. Many works within the genre take place in imaginary worlds where magic and magical creatures are common. Fantasy is generally distinguished from the genres of science fiction and horror by the expectation that it steers clear of scientific and macabre themes, respectively, though there is a great deal of overlap between the three, all of which are subgenres of speculative fiction.
